About the AIRS Network Biobank...
Founded in 1998, the AIRS Network Biobank is an invaluable resource enabling researchers to access rare material and design cohorts according to very specific criteria, while combining them with comprehensive associated data. The samples contained in the Biobank are altruistic donations made with the consent of participants and are used solely for research purposes.
Mission
To provide the scientific community with access to samples collected and stored in a standardized manner as well as comprehensive associated data in order to advance research on respiratory diseases.
Impact of the Biobank
The primary impact of the biobank is to contribute to the success of research projects by providing valuable material that enables researchers to conduct their studies with the best possible tools. Some researchers have even filed patents following the use of Biobank material. For many researchers, the Biobank also serves as a springboard for obtaining grants. The work conducted by research teams, whose projects would be impossible without the contribution of the Biobank, leads to scientific publications and contributes to new treatment avenues in respiratory health.
